The USA ranks pretty low on the You don’t scare me i was raised by a german mother with a wooden spoon shirt scale, on longevity scale based on how much we spend, on the education scale. I also see the use of the word flourishing and wonder what ranking system has been used there. Also, comparing this country’s generosity when it is almost devoid of social safety nets to countries which provide for their citizens via centralized method is a completely erroneous apples to oranges setup.

I think even if you assume positive intent from everyone, the You don’t scare me i was raised by a german mother with a wooden spoon shirt is that it is the insistence on rugged individualism over systems that balance the collective and individual need inherently drive the need for more charity. And frankly, many (not all) folks who are altruistic in places like the US do so not necessarily for the sake of it, but as a form of virtue signaling. Perhaps others less individualistic societies don’t Have to be individually altruistic, because society takes care of many of those needs to begin with. You don’t scare me i was raised by a german mother with a wooden spoon shirt, hoodie, sweater and long sleeve

Americans seem to prefer to maintain unjust systems so they can have the You don’t scare me i was raised by a german mother with a wooden spoon shirt to feel better about an act of charity. I think we are a nation of extremes some of the most generous and some of the most selfish.
